We have been producing the finest mill direct wide plank wood flooring on the market for 30 years. Our solid hardwood flooring is sustainably harvested, selectively cut, and milled to your specifications for your project. Our customers receive the highest quality, most stunning, widest plank flooring available. And because we sell wholesale-eliminating the middleman-our flooring is surprisingly affordable.
With fully mature, healthy trees as our starting point, we are able to mill the widest and longest planks in the industry-up to 10-16 feet in length, and up to 12-19 inches in width, depending on the species. These dimensions are 2-3 times what you'll find elsewhere. Long and wide boards mean fewer seams between planks, leading the eye to see an unbroken plane of wood's beautiful colors and grain patterns rather than a jigsaw puzzle of individual components.
Most hardwood flooring companies mass produce their products from trees harvested by a third party. Those trees may be less than fully mature, or even unhealthy.

Services
Like most American business stories, Vermont Plank Flooring was born of a degree of foresight, a little bit of luck, and a lot of hard work.
Our involvement in the wood business started in 1946 when Jack Tarmy started driving a lumber truck making deliveries in the Boston area.
By 1958, he had his own company, selling the finest New England timber to customers around the world.
Jack's son Mark joined the company in 1980, helping it grow roots in a community and supply chain that persists to this day.

Most purveyors of hardwood flooring are retailers who purchase their flooring from wholesalers who purchase it from the mills that produce it.
The retailers may brand the product as their own, but it's likely the same product moving up the supply chain to showrooms and websites of numerous other retailers.
And it's a product that those retailers likely have little control over when it comes to its quality.
That's why Vermont Plank Flooring stands out from the wood flooring pack.
We mill all of our own floors right at our Brattleboro, VT headquarters.

Vermont Plank Flooring is committed to sustaining our valuable forests and maintaining the earth's precious ecosystem for generations to come.
Striving for ecological balance makes sense on many levels.
From a business perspective, we rely on the earth's bounty for our products, so it is in our best interest to be stewards of the planet.
From a broader, ethical perspective, we believe it is our duty to champion our planet's health by minimizing our impact however we can, and by working exclusively with forest owners and material suppliers who can be trusted to do the same.

To flip an idiom on its head, one might presume that here in our home state of Vermont-where we are surrounded by woodland-we may "lose sight of the trees for the forest."
Or one might postulate that working with trees on a daily basis, as we do at Vermont Plank Flooring, might prompt a bit of indifference.
As one does not tire of Monet, or Venice, or the Grand Canyon, wood similarly keeps us entranced.
And we know it will for you, too.
We invite you to familiarize yourself with the tree species and wood types shown below-to marvel at the variations in color, texture, and grain pattern, and then click through to learn about their history, discover their many uses, uncover their strengths and histories, and envision how, in the form of wide plank flooring, they might enhance and enrich your home.

Vermont Plank Flooring offers Select Ash in Natural Grade, which highlights Ash's potential color variations and contrast between creamy-white and light-grey tones of the sapwood with light-brown tones of the heartwood.
By special request, we may be able to produce SAP Ash (Selected for Color) on a limited basis, which provides greater uniformity of color and consistency of grain pattern.
Our Ash Wide Plank Flooring is offered exclusively in a Plain Sawn style of cut, which highlights its classic cathedral-style grain pattern.
