Whatever your lumber needs, I have the experience and expertise as a reliable source of custom cut lumber, design, and construction. A business owner since 1972, I understand the value of being responsive to customer needs and remaining current with product knowledge and market trends. A graduate of the University of Georgia in 1967 with a Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture, my reputation as a naturalist designer solidified my customer base, growing my reputation in landscape design and construction.

Accepting the challenges of savvy eco-friendly buyers, I expanded my landscape business in 1979 with the addition of log home design and construction. The destruction of timber on my family owned tree farm caused by the hurricanes in the 1990s peaked my interest to find alternative ways to recycle the downed trees rather than disposal in landfills.

I started cutting logs with a Wood-Mizer Super LT40 bandsaw to fulfill my personal needs. The sawmill business grew with a renewed interest by homeowners, building contractors, architects, designers, and crafters increasing the demand for custom cut lumber, and hard-to-find species and reclaimed lumber.
Services
My commitment to respecting our environment and dedication to green industry values carries through in my business.
Eighty-five percent of the lumber received at Sell & Associates comes from urban timber rather than disposing of the logs in landfills.
Our remaining lumber stock comes from my personal farm, purchased from local loggers, and from reclaimed beams and lumber from old structures.
Utilizing urban timber provides access to species of trees not commonly or easily found.
At any given time, we have access to or inventory of hard-to-find species just waiting for the right cutting order.
Pine, Yellow Poplar and Swamp Yellow Poplar - 1 1/8" thick x 14" to 24" wide x 8', 10' and 12' long.
Boards four-quarter and five-quarter thick, 4" to 12" wide x 6' to16' long in Pine, Poplar, Red Oak, White Oak, Cherry, and Walnut.
Boards either air-dried or kiln-dried in the following species: Soft Maple, Hickory, Walnut, Cherry, Elm, Birch, Beech, Osage Orange, Magnolia, Dawn Red Wood, Eastern Red Cedar, Red Oak, and White Oak.
For the wood carver and turning enthusiasts, we have a 1920 barn with a loft full of small and big chunks of well-dried wood of a dozen species to rummage through.
The projects I have been asked to design, mill and, many times, construct have lead to some interesting and creative jobs in various locations within the Southeast.
Examples of some of my work are displayed below.
Quarter sawn pine lap sliding, fascia, soffit and trim specifically cut to replace rotted and weather damaged boards on this home built in c.1860.
The lumber used on this project were specifically selected tight-grain Pine logs, cut, kiln-dried, straight-line ripped, and milled at our facility.
