In 1974, Willie Drake took a small assignment that led him to West Virginia in search of rare American Chestnut among the area's historic Appalachian barns.
Little did he know, this small task would lead to a lifetime of adventures.
While combing the mountains for usable wood, Willie realized there was an abundance of beautiful abandoned wood waiting to be reclaimed and reused.
Thus, Mountain Lumber Company was born.
For nearly five decades, Mountain Lumber has traveled the globe searching for rare and beautiful woods within structures that are no longer in use.

Reimagine your walls and ceilings with a custom wood solution.
We can supply planks that you install to any backing material, or a prefabricated panel that merely needs to be fastened to the wall.
Wood adds warmth and depth to interior design at an economical price, adding to its popularity for residential and commercial cladding applications.
Because wood walls do not have to be perfectly flat, there are options such as multi-depth, beadboard, shiplap and other 3-dimensional profiles.
We primarily work with American hard and softwoods, with white oak, walnut, hickory and various pine products being predominant.

The same antique timbers and beams used to create Mountain Lumber's reclaimed floors are also available for purchase.
You can apply these beams to suit your needs - either for their handsome looks, their unbending structural support, or both!
Like our flooring, our millwork is produced to the very highest standards.
All stair treads are glued from more than one board to provide you with extra stability, and carefully matched so the joint is virtually invisible and all of our moldings are architecturally drawn and custom designed to classic proportions.
